Mitu, the capital city of Vaupés department, is located in the north of Amazon Basin limiting with the beggining of the savannas of the Eastern Plains, because of that in the area there are different types of humid forest such as White Sand Forest, Varzea Forest and Terra Firme Forest. These habitats have different kind of vegetation and the birdlife differs a little from forest to forest.

ITINERARY

DAY 1

In the morning flight from Bogota to Mitu, Vaupes. After installing in the hotel and have lunch, we will bird in the afteroon in th Urania community area

DAY 2

During this day we visit a particular area in search for the amazing Fiery Topaz, it hunts insects for 30 minutes early in the morning before going into the deep forest. We will bird the rest of the day along road and trails

DAY3

On this day we will visit a special area to see the Guinian Cock of the Rock, an impressive species that inhabits in area with huge rocks and caves. We wil also visit forest in search for antbirds and other species

DAY 4

We will explore White Sand forest in search for its specialties such as Collared Puffbird, Gray-bellied antbird, Black buchbird, Amethyst Woodstar and many more species

DAY 5

During the morning we will vist Terra Firme forest in search for differentt species of antbirds such as White-plumed Antbird, Chestnut-crested andtbird and Dot-back antbird. It is also good place for Pavonine Quetzal, Amazonian Trogon and Yellow-tuftet Toucanet

DAY 6

We will explore trails in Varzea forest and also have a boat trip along the Vaupes river and small streams into the forest in search for Drab Water Tyrant, Amazonian Streaked Antwren, Blackish-gray Antshrike and other specialties

DAY 7

In the morning we will explore White Sand Forest looking for missing species. After lunch flight to Bogota and accommodation at Hotel
